Robber breaks man's nose at gas station

The Madison police arrested a man late Wednesday night for allegedly punching a gas station employee in the nose, fleeing the scene and posing as a different person.

According to police, Devon Redd, 19, of Madison, punched a 52-year-old man who works at a BP gas station on South Park Street. The victim told police Redd looked as if he were about to steal from the store, and when confronted, Redd retaliated with a blow to the man's nose. The victim said his nose was broken.

Police said the gas station employee called around 9 p.m. and reported that Redd had fled the scene. Investigators spotted Redd and chased him past Meriter Hospital. They later found him at the McDonald's on Regent Street.

Redd told police his name was Christopher Brown, but after questioning, he told the place his real name. Redd faces charges of battery and obstruction for his alleged actions.
