Undercover Madison police officers arrested seven people Thursday night in connection to a drug dealing operation on the city's east side.
According to a police report, Madison's Northeast Community Police team, along with Dane County authorities, carried out a reverse-sting"" drug operation in an area of East Washington Avenue.
Officers from both teams reportedly posed as drug dealers. The seven suspects police arrested were given citations ranging from alleged possession of cocaine to alleged delivery of marijuana.
In the report, police said they have recently detected ""a rise in drug/prostitution activity in the area.""
Officers who participated in the sting also said they saw people flashing rival gang signs at one another. Police said they will continue stings such as these.
