Students involved in class cancellations transition smoothly, according to dean

Following confusion of cancelled College of Letters and Science courses Tuesday, Dean Gary Sandefur said the incident affected a very small number of students.

I sent each of the students - o - othere were about 10 all together, so it's a small number of students who were affected - o - oan email,"" Sandefur said.

""There were two situations,"" he said. ""The religious studies course, the [professor] resigned not too long ago. What we should have done was sent a note to the students, but they still would have had to find another course.""

According to Sandefur, about five students registered for the African Languages and Literature class which had been cancelled in March due to lack of funding.

""That was just a mistake,"" he said. ""The course was inadvertently put in the timetable.""

He said his office would work with the students involved to ensure they find other courses to take to keep a fulltime status if they wanted.

""As far as I know, none of them have had any trouble and so I assume they've already found another course,"" Sandefur said.
