The Vending Oversight Committee will be reviewing the licenses of current Library Mall and Capitol Concourse food vendors this week, by sampling food and assessing the carts' safety and appearance. The committee will also assess applications for new businesses hoping to open a cart at either of these locations.
The committee plans to review 24 currently licensed food carts in the mall and concourse areas and 12 carts applying for new licenses.
Some of the new carts seeking licensing seek to bring a new flavor to the Madison food cart scene. There are two vegetarian food carts on the list to be reviewed, as well as three Chicago style cuisine carts. Several carts featuring Latin and Asian cuisine are also slated to be reviewed for licensing.
