UW-Madison upperclassmen may want to check the color of their football tickets before entering Saturday's game.
Some students with upperclassman status may have been issued orange, underclassmen football tickets, instead of black, upperclassmen tickets.
Quite a few of my friends who are upperclassmen did not receive upperclassmen tickets,"" said Joe Orrock, a UW-Madison junior, who did not get them himself.
Orrock said he assumed he had the correct tickets because he was issued upperclassmen tickets last year and most of the people he attended the Sept. 1 home football game with had an orange ticket.
Alex Hartzman, a UW-Madison junior, said he expected upperclassmen tickets because of his class standing at the time of purchase.
""I didn't pick up my tickets until game day and they didn't have posted on them anywhere that they were underclassmen. It's just color coded,"" Hartzman said. ""I naturally assumed that I had the right tickets.""
Hartzman said he traded tickets with someone at the game once he realized his tickets were different from his friends', but relayed his complaint to the Athletic Ticket Office last week.
Vince Sweeney, associate athletic director for external relations, offered a possible explanation for any mix-ups.
""What often will happen is in April when people order their tickets they're underclassmen,"" Sweeney said.
In the fall, after spring credits are finalized, sophomores officially become upperclassmen, making them eligible to obtain upperclassmen tickets.
Sweeney said the ATO cannot assume students pass spring courses and advance grade standings, but said newly-named upperclassmen are able to exchange their tickets.
Hartzman successfully exchanged his tickets Thursday after reporting the problem via e-mail last weekend.
""The bottom line is if anybody - not just students - has an issue, contact the ticket office and we'll work through it as best we can,"" Sweeney said.
