ON FIRE
Oklahoma Sooners
Led by the phenomenal play of quarterback Sam Bradford and running back DeMarco Murray, the Oklahoma Sooners have impressively beaten their first three opponents by a combined score of 184-26. The outstanding thing about their point total is that both their starting quarterback and tailback are freshmen.
Mike Teel
After a sub-par sophomore season, Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel has bounced back and led the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to a 3-0 record to begin the season with his spectacular play. Last season many people considered Teel to be the weak link for the Scarlet Knights, but through three games this season he leads the NCAA with a 236.65 quarterback rating.
P.J. Hill
After sophomore P.J. Hill failed to score a touchdown against UNLV, he followed up by scoring five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) against the Citadel Saturday, making him the fifth Badger to ever score five touchdowns in a game. Hill looks to add to his seven total touchdowns this season on Saturday night when Iowa comes to Camp Randall for the Badgers' first nationally televised game of the year.
ICE COLD
Notre Dame Offensive Line
As sad as the entire Notre Dame football team has been, the offensive line has been the worst. In freshman quarterback Jimmy Clausen's first two games, he has been sacked a total of 15 times, and Notre Dame's rushing total for the entire season has been a very unimpressive negative eight yards. Notre Dame's schedule does not get any easier with Saturday's matchup against 3-0 Michigan State.
Tashard Choice
Georgia Tech senior running back Tashard Choice began this season with very impressive, Heisman-like numbers, averaging more than eight yards per carry and 150 rushing yards per game in his first two games of the season. Those numbers fell significantly though last Saturday when he only managed 2.1 yards per carry and 31 rushing yards in Georgia Tech's loss to Boston College. Choice will try to bounce back this weekend when Georgia Tech plays conference rival Virginia.
Big Ten Football
Even with Michigan's blowout of Notre Dame, the Big Ten hit a new low last weekend when Northwestern managed to lose to Duke, who up to that point had the longest losing streak in the nation of 22 straight games. Even though Northwestern has never been the cream of the crop in the Big Ten, this only adds to a difficult start for the Big Ten Conference.
