Drunk couple attempts to beat up Ironman athlete and his family

Madison police arrested a man and a woman late Sunday night at the Hilton Hotel near the Monona Terrace after the two allegedly initiated a fight with a 21-year-old man who had just completed the Ironman race.

According to the police report, Adam Corona, 28, and Courtney Kirchstein, 21, both of Brooklyn, Wis., bumped into the 21-year-old victim, his father, 46, and grandfather, 70, near the Hilton Hotel just moments after the victim finished the Ironman competition. The victim told police he asked the two suspects to get out of the way.

Police said Corona answered by saying, I'm going to kick your ass.""

From there, police said the victim's grandfather was reportedly pushed into some bushes and his father was punched in the face. As a response, the 21-year-old grabbed Corona and put him in a headlock. Police said Corona punched the victim in the nose.

Officers who arrived at the scene said in the report that Corona and Kirchstein were intoxicated. Both were tentatively charged with two counts of battery and one count of disorderly conduct.
