UW Athletic Communications announced Friday that four men's hockey games will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network this season.
The four games will include the annual College Hockey Showcase Nov. 23 and 24 between the Badgers and two teams from the Central Collegiate Hockey Association - Michigan and Michigan State, the Feb. 22 road game against the Minnesota Gophers and the Jan. 4 game versus Colorado College.
There is a deep passion for college hockey in Big Ten country and a long-standing tradition of success,"" BTN President Mark Silverman said in a statement.""We look forward to capturing that passion and bringing the very best of college hockey to a national audience.""
According to a statement, schools in the Big Ten have won four NCAA Championships in the last six years, although the Big Ten conference does not sponsor ice hockey.
Wisconsin won both the men's and the women's titles in 2006 - a first in college hockey history. The women repeated as champions in 2007.
All 2,800 men's student hockey season tickets sold out for the 2007-'08 season, Athletic Communications announced Sept. 13.
This is the second consecutive year student season tickets have sold out before the first game.
