Men’s golf finishes fourth while women’s golf struggles at weekend invitationals

The Badger men's golf team used a strong final round to finish fourth at the Fossum/Spartan Invitational at Michigan State this weekend.

Heading into Sunday in sixth place, senior Garrett Jones catalyzed Wisconsin's surge with a final round of five-under 267. Jones' last-round efforts moved him up to seventh overall, his best finish of the season behind his performance at the Wolverine Invitational.

In 13th place was Badger sophomore Dan Woltman, whose final round score of one-under 71 put him at two-under par at 214 for the tournament. This marked the sophomore's best finish since the Pinehurst Invitational earlier this season.

Junior Jeff Kaiser shot his last two rounds under par to take 28th overall.

Badger sophomores Tyler Obermueller and Pat Duffy struggled in the final round, both shooting 5-over-77 to fall to 42nd and 47th respectively for the tournament.

Host school Michigan State won the tournament. Second place went to the Charlotte 49ers and Xavier took home third.
