Men place fifth at OSU Golf Club

The UW men's golf team finished fifth in the annual Big Ten Championship Golf Tournament behind the strength of five top forty finishes at the Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio, this past weekend. The end result marks UW's best finish in the tournament since 1999, where they finished fourth.

Sophomore Pat Duffy finished the meet in 10th place after shooting a four over par 75. He was able to move up three spots from where he finished on Saturday afternoon to earn his top 10 finish. Duffy absolutely crushed his previous personal best, as his total score of 300 was 20 strokes better than his previous best.

UW sophomore Tyler Obermueller also recorded a new personal best as he finished the tournament with a score of 18 over par 302 to finish in a tie for 14th place.

Playing in his final Big Ten championship, senior Garret Jones finished with a final score of 308 that earned him a tie for 32nd place. After an atypical third round, Jones bounced back and recorded a five over par 86 in the final round.

UW sophomore Dan Woltman finished in a tie for 32nd place along with his colleague Garret Jones after he shot a seven over par 78 in the final round to drop into a tie for 32nd place.

Rounding out the UW squad was junior Jeff Kaiser. After a disappointing round where he shot an 11-over par 82, Kaiser dropped 13 spots lower from where he was after the third round. Kaiser eventually finished in a 3-way tie for 38th place.
