Bells to ring on campus at 11 am for Virginia Tech victims

The Carillon Tower will have its bells ring simultaneously with those of universities around the country today at 11:00 a.m., in front of the Sewell Social Science Building. The bells will toll once for every victim of the Virginia Tech tragedy. The ceremony is in recognition of a statewide day of mourning declared by Virginia's governor and his request for bells to be rung at the same time at noon Eastern Daylight Saving Time. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the ceremony. Members of UW-Madison are additionally encouraged to wear orange and maroon as a show of solidarity with the Virginia Tech community.
