Woman brutally beaten, stabbed by 57-year-old man

John Musillami, 57, was arrested Thursday for allegedly beating 33-year-old Veronica Coy, who suffered numerous bruises to her body and a puncture wound in the back of her thigh, according to Madison police.

Coy and Musillami were reportedly in an argument on 2116 Fisher Street. Police said Musillami held a knife to Coy's throat, while battering her and repeatedly issuing death threats. She suffered more than 50 blows to the head and was stabbed in her leg after the suspect went into a ""rage.""

Still, police said Coy was able to jump from a window and ran to get help. Coy reportedly stopped a street sweeper and asked the operator of the vehicle to quickly get her to the closest police station.

Police said Musillami was located and arrested on charges of substantial battery and reckless endangerment. Coy was reportedly recovering from non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital.
