West side shaken from stranger sexual assault

A sexual assault occurred Wednesday night near the intersection of Verona Rd. and the Beltline, according to Madison Police.

According to police, the victim's home, located on the 4600 block of Atticus Lane, was broken into Wednesday morning at about 8:30 a.m.

Once inside the home, the suspect, who police said was unknown to the victim, committed the sexual assault. Police arrested the suspect, but the police report stated the arrest was made in connection to an unrelated charge.

Police said residents in the area are in no present danger, despite the fact that the assault still remains under investigation. The police report stated no further information, will be available as of press time, such as names and a suspect description.

This incident marks the third case of stranger sexual assault this month in Madison. The first occurred March 3 on the 1000 block of Spring Street. The second took place a week later—March 10—in the downtown area near the 500 block of E. Wilson Street.
