The UW Roman Catholic Foundation officially voted Tuesday night to dedicate nine spots on its 12-member leadership board to students, following a federal court judge's orders, to gain eligibility for Registered Student Organization status from UW-Madison's Student Organization Office.
UWRCF Director Tim Kruse said Tuesday night that the bishop and vicar of St. Paul's Catholic Center—UWRCF's more commonly known name—gave up their leadership board positions to open the board up to more students.
A federal court's decision last week at UWRCF's preliminary injunction said the Foundation must have at least six student members on its 12-member board to be considered primarily student-run, to qualify for RSO status and consequently to receive funds from the Associated Students of Madison's Student Services Finance Committee.
