The UW football team finalized its 12-game 2007 schedule by adding Northern Illinois as its fourth non-conference opponent. The Huskies will visit Camp Randall Oct. 20 during what was UW's bye week in the middle of the conference season.
NIU and Wisconsin have agreed to play each other three times in the next five seasons. UW will become the first Big Ten team to play at Northern Illinois Oct. 24, 2009 and the Huskies will return to Madison Sept. 17, 2011.
""Northern Illinois has made a national name for itself in recent years, going to bowl games twice in the past three seasons,"" head coach Bret Bielema said in a statement.
NIU joins Washington State and The Citadel as non-conference opponents who will visit Camp Randall next season. Wisconsin heads to UNLV Sept. 8 in its only non-conference game on the road.
""Washington State has nearly two-thirds of its starters back from a bowl-eligible team that appeared in the top 25 last season, providing us a great opponent to begin the year with,"" Bielema said.
