Lauren Woods, alder candidate for District 8, announced Wednesday that Mayor Dave Cieslewicz will endorse her campaign for April's general election.
Woods said her views are similar to those of Cieslewicz. She said the fact that the mayor is supporting her bid for election is ""a big boost"" for her campaign.
""When it comes to issues like campus safety, tenants' rights and affordable housing...Mayor Dave's values are very much in sync with mine and with campus,"" Woods said in a release.
In a statement, Cieslewicz said he chose to endorse Woods because of her experience in government and involvement in the community.
""Lauren Woods is ready to hit the ground running and will put her diverse experiences and impressive understanding of crucial city issues, like safety, to work for UW students,"" he said.
