K-9 officer assists in arrest of 50-year-old robber near Mound Street

Police seized a Madison man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly broke into a house on the 1100 Block of Mound Street with a knife and later charged at police with the weapon.

According to police, 50-year-old John Mulvihill had fled the scene by the time officers responded to the 3:40 a.m. call. Town of Madison police used a K-9 unit to track down the suspect and arrested him after neutralizing the weapon he was carrying. Officer ""Brando"" was responsible for chasing down the victim. The canine was unavailable for comment.

The release identified the victims in the Mound Street house as females but did not specify whether the break-in was an attempted robbery.

A neighbor said they heard screams come from the home. Police said no one was injured as a result of the incident. They said no further information was available as of press time.
