Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk praised a plow operator Thursday for his acts of heroism in creating a trail for an ambulance transporting a sick 11-day-old baby through a blinding blizzard last month.
Joe Cockroft is the Dane County plow operator who braved the nasty winter weather on Feb. 25 and led an ambulance from Green County to the UW hospital in Madison.
""Joe Cockroft's exemplary service that night in the height of the dangerous storm is another example of a great job our highway department does to keep our roads as safe as possible in all types of weather,"" Falk said in a statement.
Carrie Schwartz, chair of the board of directors in the Green County Emergency Management Service, said in a statement that Cockroft's bravery helped the baby girl receive the best medical treatment possible.
