Early morning break-in on West Johnson Street causes ruckus

Madison police said early Wednesday morning a man kicked down the door at an unknown apartment complex on the 500 block of Johnson Street.

Police arrested Erik Christopherson, 23, of Madison, at approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday morning after residents called in an attempted burglary. Christopherson reportedly went to an apartment building and demanded that he be allowed entrance.

A tenant living in the building told Christopherson ""he did not live there,"" according to police. Christopherson reportedly did not listen and kicked in the door, which ruined the bolt, to get in to the building.

Police said three females were inside the building and fled once the suspect broke in. Christopherson was found in the basement of the building, and police subsequently arrested and charged him with criminal trespass to dwelling and criminal damage to property.
