Student struck by car on Langdon Street

A UW-Madison student was struck by a car Monday night in the mid-block crosswalk on the 800 block of Langdon Street, directly outside of Memorial Union, Madison police reported. 

 

According to a police statement filed by MPD Sgt. Cindy Mierow, ""The vehicle struck the pedestrian in the middle of the roadway."" 

 

According to the statement, 18-year-old Patricia Wagner suffered a fractured skull, a broken nose and eye socket, and abrasions. She is being treated at a local hospital.  

 

The release stated that Wagner's injuries are not life threatening. 

 

31-year-old Bradley Zika was taken into custody Monday night and police suspect he was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the statement and MPD investigator Herb Miller, who was at the scene of the accident. 

 

""Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor,"" the release said.

Zika could be charged with a felony, Mierow said early Tuesday.
