The Athletic Board announced Friday student-section tickets will increase $2 from $17 to $19 and regular admission tickets will increase $4 from $34 to $39 for the 2007 football season.
Athletic Director Barry Alvarez told Channel 3000, ""We've always drug our feet as far as raising prices. If you take a look around the league you can see where we rank, yet there comes a time where we have to pay the bills with escalating prices. We felt this was the time, in this budget, that we had to raise prices.""
UW-Madison tickets are still relatively cheap compared to its Big Ten counterparts. UW ranks third for the least expensive tickets in the Big Ten, with only Indiana and Northwestern offering cheaper rates.
Channel 3000 also reported the board announced its highest budget ever of $85.7 million for the 2007-'08 season.
