According to Thursday's edition of the Milwakee Journal-Sentinel, junior defensive end Jamal Cooper has been dismissed from the UW football team because of academic violations.
Cooper was suspended for the season opener of the 2006 season for the same reason, but head coach Bret Bielema reinstated him. In addition to apparently struggling in the classroom, Cooper failed to regain his previous form in 2006, amassing only 18 tackles in 12 games. A torn ACL held him out of the majority of the 2005 season, and that may have hindered his progress this past season.
