UW Credit Union to open branch on Capitol Square

UW Credit Union will open a second downtown branch next spring on Capitol Square, according to a statement released Wednesday morning.

The financial institution has operated a branch at 662 State St. since the beginning of the fall semester. But according to President Paul Kundert, customers have demanded another location in the center of the city.

""Madison's downtown has been the most frequently requested branch location in recent member surveys,"" Kundert said.

UW-Madison faculty founded UW Credit union in 1931, which now ranks among the largest credit unions in Wisconsin with more than 100,000 members and assets of $850 million.

The new branch, at the corner of Mifflin and Pinckney streets, is expected to offer parking in addition to a 24-hour surcharge-free ATM.
