Badgers offensive lineman Joe Thomas was awarded the Outland Trophy Thursday, given annually to the nation's top interior lineman. He is the first Badger to ever win it.
""Coming in at Wisconsin, you hear all the great names in front of you and this year I heard none of them had won the Outland Trophy. This is quite an honor,"" the Badger senior said when accepting the trophy on ESPN.
Thomas also announced at the award ceremony that he is engaged to his girlfriend, former Badgers basketball player Annie Nelson.
Thomas is projected to be the first offensive lineman, and among the first five chosen, in April's NFL draft.
