Michigan vs. USC
Jan. 1, 2007, 4 p.m.
While Michigan was sitting at home hoping to get another shot at hated rival Ohio State, USC was busy losing to UCLA. Many believed if USC won that game, they would have found themselves playing for the national championship for the fourth-straight year. Instead, they head to Pasadena, Calif., for the second year in a row.
Michigan will try to extend USC's losing streak in the Rose Bowl to two, as the Trojans lost the game of the century one year ago to Texas and Vince Young. While Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and LenDale White are gone, Steve Smith, Dwayne Jarrett and John David Booty have taken over. On the other side, Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr has voiced his frustrations with the BCS and has vowed there will be a playoff format in the future.
All controversy aside, this will be a great game to watch. How will the USC offense match up against perhaps the best defense in the country? How will USC find a way to contain Mario Manningham and Mike Hart?
Final score: Michigan holds off a late USC drive and wins 24-20.
