Penn State vs. Tennessee
Jan. 1, 2007, 10 a.m.
For a team that started off at No. 19 in the AP poll this year, Penn State quickly fell off the list of top contenders. Of course, starting the season with Notre Dame and Ohio State as two of the first four opponents and losing star quarterback Michael Robinson to the NFL draft did not help either. But, the Nittany Lions did not have a bad year, by any means. Their four losses were all to teams finishing in the top 11 in both the AP and BCS standings, and they still finished fourth in the Big Ten. However, that likely will not be enough to stop a tough Tennessee team that has arguably the most potent receiving duo in the country with Robert Meachem and Jayson Swain, who have combined for more than 1,800 yards and 17 touchdowns on 109 receptions.
Final score: Tennessee 27, PSU 17
