If there was an award for having the most slogans, Lagunitas Brewing Co.'s Brown Shugga' would be the clear winner. Sporting such subtle mantras as ""Beer Speaks. People Mumble."" and ""Cultured Brewery Yeast is a'kin to feeding Raw Shark to your Gerbil. It is unlikely to ever occur in nature."" Brown Shugga' brings the average public rest room to shame in terms of pure, irreverent witticisms.
However, as they say, it's what is under the label that matters, and what is under Brown Shugga's label is none too pleasing.
Brown Shugga' has a bit of trouble finding its alcoholic niche. A little too winced-inducing to be sipped, even among seasoned beer drinkers, chugging only leads to arm flailing, doubling over in disgust and cries of sheer idiocy.
The beer does win back a half bottle to its score for its sheer alcohol content. With 9.9 percent alcohol content in each bottle, drinking a Brown Shugga' is akin to double fisting some Millers.
