The Associated Students of Madison Student Judiciary announced late Wednesday night that the UW Roman Catholic Foundation has filed suit against the ASM Student Services Finance Committee, after SSFC denied UWRCF contract status at its Monday meeting.
The filed complaint states the issue is a viewpoint neutrality one, stating that members of the SSFC discriminated against the Foundation when considering its request.
UWRCF's request asked for a status that would provide monthly payments to the organization, rather than having SSFC dole out funds to specific allocations within the organization on an annual basis.
""Despite the lack of spoken opposition, SSFC voted to deny the contract group status to UWRCF,"" the complaint stated. ""No statement was made on the record or in any other manner to the petitioners giving reason for the same.""
UWRCF Director Tim Kruse said Monday that most non-profit student organizations have received contract status from SSFC.
An e-mail from UWRCF's Father Eric Neil to UWRCF members Wednesday said all 14 of the Foundation's full-time professional staff will be cut due to not receiving contract status.
