SSFC fully funds Wunk Sheek

The Associated Students of Madison Student Services Finance Committee reheard an American Indian student organization's budget Thursday night, deciding to give the organization all of its originally proposed funding for the 2007-'08 academic year.

Wunk Sheek, the group in question, was originally minimally funded at $4,757 due to failing to meet the requirement on the SSFC funding eligibility application to meet with ASM before its hearing.

The committee decided to add a treasurer position to Wunk Sheek's budget to ensure the organization's budget is worked on and accounted for over the summer. Wunk Sheek members said the additional position would also encourage the organization's office to remain open in the summer, offering additional resources to students.

Wunk Sheek's final budget was approved at $94,094 by a 5-4 vote.

The committee also approved the Campus Women's Center budget in full at $83,845.

SSFC also heard budget proposals from the Child Care Tuition Assistance Program, which seeks to aid UW-Madison students who have children, and Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment, a student organization dedicated to the prevention of sexual assault and dating violence.
