911 calls to get better funding under Falk budget

Dane County will have more money for 911 calls and drug treatment facilities if Kathleen Falk's 2007 budget comes to fruition.

Falk, who is still waiting for the results of a recount in the state attorney general race, has been Dane County Executive since 1997. She also ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2002.

The 911 upgrades, which would cost $157,000 if approved by the county board, are intended to finance training and technology at emergency call centers.

The proposed budget calls for $447 million in county spending next year, up $20 million from this year's budget. Funding increases are also slated for the Sheriff's Department and Vilas Zoo.
