The two candidates for state attorney general, Republican J.B. Van Hollen and Democrat Kathleen Falk, both touted their prosecuting record and pointed to each other's lack of experience at a Milwaukee Rotary Club debate Tuesday.
In his opening remarks Van Hollen said while Falk is an activist, she lacks experience in criminal prosecution.
""The AG's job is to run the Department of Justice and to fight crime,"" he said. ""Both of us will talk about fighting crime today, the difference is that I've done it.""
Van Hollen pointed out his experience as a prosecutor since his 20s within the state and claimed he has more democratic law enforcement support than Falk.
""The contrast between her and I is stark. I have a record of fighting crime, she does not. She's never tried a single case. Not once,"" Van Hollen said.
Falk countered this with reference to her 20 years as a prosecutor, which she said give her four more years of experience then Van Hollen.
""I know my way around a court room,"" Falk assured the crowd.
Additionally, Falk said she has fought cases in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and claims Van Hollen has yet to do so.
