New UW System spokesperson selected to succeed Bradley

The University of Wisconsin System announced David F. Giroux would succeed Doug Bradley as UW System spokesperson.

Giroux, a former public relations employee for Alliant Energy Corporation and the American Red Cross and photojournalist for the National Guard, will begin his job Dec. 1.

""If we want to show that our university is relevant, valuable and trustworthy, we must continually demonstrate how we are providing a solid ‘return on investment' to all Wisconsin taxpayers. They own this place, and they deserve nothing less,"" Giroux said in a UW System press release.

In recent years, relations between the state and the UW System have been strained as Republican state legislators have feuded with the UW System Board of Regents over funding in the state budget.
