Mugger strikes near Library Mall Sunday night

A mugger armed with a glass bottle attacked a man on the 400 block of North Murray Street Sunday night, less than a block from Library Mall.

According to police, the mugger approached the victim at approximately 9 p.m., as the victim was walking north on Murray Street, which runs between University Avenue and Library Mall. He hit the victim once in the head with the glass bottle, causing a ""minor injury,"" before fleeing the scene.

The assault was the first of the year to occur near Library Mall, the heart of the UW-Madison campus.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his 20s, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing dark-colored hoodie and baggy jeans.

Police are also on the lookout for a potential second suspect who may have been wearing a mask similar to the one worn by the murderous villain in the movie ""Scream.""
