Man on bicycle executes drive-by purse snatching on N. Frances Street

Madison police are on the lookout for a cycling robber after a late-night a late-night purse snatching on the 600 block of North Frances Street early Monday morning. 

 

A 22-year-old woman was walking on the street at approximately 2:40 a.m. when she noticed a man following her on a bicycle, police said. The man rode past her once without incident before turning around making a second run at the woman. As he rode by for the second time, police say he snatched the woman's purse and rode off toward State Street. 

 

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his early 30s with a stocky build and short hair. He was last seen wearing a white button-down shirt.
