UW System President Kevin Reilly announced the five finalists in the UW-La Crosse chancellor search Friday, including UW-Madison's own Associate Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, Virginia Sapiro.
""I was very honored,"" Sapiro said of the announcement. ""UW-La Crosse is a terrific liberal arts campus of the University of Wisconsin.""
Sapiro said, if appointed, she will work to sustain UW-La Crosse's programs and research.
""[The appointment] would really be to continue its great work and help it move to the next level,"" Sapiro said.
The other finalists include Royce Engstrom of the University of South Dakota, Joe Gow of Nebraskan Wesleyan University, Patrick McGhee of the University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom and Beverly Schmoll of Wayne State University.
The Board of Regents' Special Committee for the UW-La Crosse Chancellor Search will interview the finalists in Madison Nov. 1.
