Television producer and UW-Madison graduate Ben Karlin appeared in a video supporting the Student Union Initiative, a proposal to renovate Memorial Union and rebuild Union South.
""I am a UW graduate who spent more time than I should have at Memorial Union. Mainly I stared at girls who would not under any circumstances date me,"" Karlin said in the video, which was e-mailed to students' Wiscmail accounts.
Karlin implored students to support the SUI, which is up for vote Wednesday in elections sponsored by Associated Students of Madison. The referendum would hike segregated fees by $48 for the first two years and $98 every year afterward.
Karlin's political satires The Daily Show and The Colbert Report air on Comedy Central and have met with popular and critical acclaim.
