UW-Madison and UW System officials, along with the namesake's daughter, gathered Friday to dedicate and rename the building formerly known as simply ""the Social Sciences Building.""
The Social Sciences Building was renamed in honor of UW-Madison's late 1967-'68 chancellor and sociology scholar William H. Sewell.
Sewell served as chancellor during the height of campus rioting and protests regarding the Vietnam War. He died in 2001 at 91.
