The man arrested for an attempted sexual assault in late August appeared in court Monday, and faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
Downtown Madison resident, Paul Aud, 33, faces three charges: battery, kidnapping and attempted second-degree sexual assault. Aud was arrested last Friday.
During the Aug. 23 assault, the victim ripped off part of Aud's shirt. According to Assistant District Attorney Mike Verveer, Aud's glasses were also found at the scene, and his DNA matched perfectly with the DNA samples from the T-shirt and glasses.
The victim, a UW-Madison student, suffered numerous bruises and swelling to the left side of her face. The attack occurred on the 100 block of Langdon Street.
Aud was ordered held on $9,000 cash bail and will appear in court next week.
