The Associated Students of Madison's Student Services Finance Committee denied funding for Calvary Lutheran Chapel and Student Center Thursday night.
SSFC chair and UW-Madison senior Zach Frey said the primary reason for denial of funding was that Calvary Lutheran is not a registered student organization.
Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan, a group devoted to educating the UW-Madison community about Chicano and Mexican culture, and the Student Leadership Program, a group promoting leadership opportunities, were approved for funding.
Frey said SSFC will confirm the approval votes for MEChA and SLP and the denial vote for Calvary Lutheran at Monday's meeting. The committee will also vote Monday on funding eligibility for Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment, a student organization aimed toward ending sexual violence, and Vets for Vets, a UW-Madison veteran services group.
