Republican U.S. Rep. and gubernatorial hopeful Mark Green is calling for the removal of embattled lecturer Kevin Barrett for the second time this semester. Green and 52 state representatives, 51 of which were Republicans, called for Barrett's termination in August.
Green, R-Green Bay, is re-issuing his call for the ""immediate termination"" of Barrett because, according to a statement by Green, Barrett ""has ignored"" the university's previous warnings and has scheduled the British Broadcasting Company to tape an Oct. 1 lecture.
This summer Barrett appeared on a whirlwind of national news stations, but was asked by UW-Madison not to appear on such shows.
""This is a slap in the face to the thousands of families who lost loved ones on September 11th,"" Green said. ""Students ... are being forced to pay the salary of a man who would have you believe the U.S. government orchestrated those terrible acts.""
