A slew of local anti-war activists occupied the office of Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., urging the senator to take a stronger stance on the war in Iraq.
The group, called National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance Against the War in Iraq, appealed to Kohl to vote against President Bush's supplemental funding bill that would earmark another $70 billion for the war in Iraq.
Member Joy First estimated the group gathered 700 signatures in opposition to the bill. She said the group stood in the office and recited names of U.S. soldiers killed in the war.
We've actually been trying to get a meeting with the senator for four months to talk about the war and he hasn't been able to meet with us in four months, so it's frustrating,\ First said.
