Gov. Jim Doyle and GOP challenger U.S. Rep. Mark Green, R-Green Bay, are in a virtual dead heat, according to polls released Wednesday.
However, the Wisconsin Public Radio and St. Norbert College survey poll said Doyle has a slight lead over Green.
Another poll found Doyle's approval ratings plummeting.
Traditionally an incumbent needs a job approval rating of 55 percent,\ said David Johnson, CEO of Strategic Vision, the independent polling firm.
