Following Gov. Jim Doyle's approval of Senate Bill 121 in December, the UW Board of Regents announced it is officially adding a second student position to their 17-member board.
The new post is reserved for a 'non-traditional student,' according to a statement released by the United Council, a UW System student organization.
'This is a tremendous accomplishment,' said Brian Tanner, legislative affairs director for the United Council, in a statement. 'Since 1985, students have had a single seat on the 17-member UW Board of Regents, and that one student represented over 160,000 student voices.'
