Even though the Wisconsin women's volleyball team will still focus on its performance until the season ends, the Badger spikers are already preparing for a the start of a new season, as two players signed national letters of intent yesterday.
Katherine Dykstra from Milmette, Ill. and Morgan Salow from Manchester, Iowa are ideal additions to the Badger squad.
\Our goal for this recruiting class was to bring in even more size and athletic ability. ... This is going to help us compete at the highest levels nationally and these two will definitely put up a formidable block together,"" Head Coach Pete Waite said.
Dykstra, a 6'3' outside hitter and middle blocker, ranks No. 68 in PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces. Dykstra was a member of the 2004 USA Volleyball Junior National A2 team as well as taking her New Trier High School team to the Class AA state title this weekend.
""At 6'3' with a 10'7"" approach vertical jump, she has the potential to be a dominant college volleyball player,"" Waite said.
A 6'4' middle blocker, Salow, was an all-state selection. She is a two-time district selection and, as a junior, she broke her high school's season record for kills and aces.
""She's very well-rounded and mobile in every aspect of the game. ... She has a better volleyball IQ than most freshmen we bring in,"" Waite said.
