A UW-Madison student was robbed near the 200 block of West Gilman Street walking home alone after bar time, according to a press release from the Madison Police Department.
According to the release, the victim was walking home around 3 a.m. when a black male approached him and initiated conversation. The suspect eventually attacked him with an unseen object and forced the victim to the ground. That man and another suspect allegedly went through the victim's pockets and took the victim's cell phone, according to the release.
Police only have a description of one of the suspects-a black male approximately 25 years old and 170 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark-colored jeans.
Police suspect arson played a role in a fire that destroyed a 30-unit apartment complex Tuesday morning in the nearby city of Fitchburg, Wis., according to The Capital Times. No one was injured.
Lt. Christopher Schultz of the Fitchburg Fire Department said police are going to view the fire as a criminal case.
Acting Fire Chief Randy Pickering said the fire spread rapidly because of the building's 1960s-era architecture and outdated fire precautions.
There are no current estimates available, but damages to similar structures cost approximately $1 million, according to the Capital Times.
