'Real World' star speaks on campus

Although best known for his heartthrob status on MTV's current season of \The Real World: San Diego,"" cast member Randy came to UW-Madison Wednesday night to share his travel experiences for STA Travel's ""Europe Night.""

Speaking to a predominately female crowd, Randy related experiences from traveling everywhere from Prague to Rome to Barcelona. He told of sleeping on train floors, working in various club scenes across the continent and living from a backpack.

However, while the focus of the evening was on Randy's extensive travel experiences, he discussed his show experiences as well.

""I thought I would get used to the cameras a lot quicker than I did,"" he said. ""It's tough being taken away from everything that made you who you are: your job, family, and friends.""

Randy also said the show was the hardest, yet most rewarding thing he's ever done, and the flexibility he learned while traveling helped him to adapt in the show.

Fans in the audience were eager to have photographs taken and autographs signed after the talk finished.

""I think he's much better looking and taller in person,"" UW-Madison freshman Jill Salama said.

""He's as cute as he is in the show,"" UW-Madison junior Andrea Anderson said. ""I'm definitely addicted to this season anyway, and now I'm just going to talk about him while I watch it.""

Randy also revealed a little of what lies ahead for this season-MTV will air the cast's trip to Greece May 4.

""Going to Greece made us appreciate what we had back home,"" he said, adding that despite the lack of travel experience among many cast members, the trip went smoothly.

Randy said he plans to keep traveling while doing promotions as long as he can. At some point, however, he would like to resume his art career. In the more immediate future, Randy will be seen on ABC Family's ""Knock First,"" where he will redesign a room in Boston.
