Badger Bits

Freshman guard Kandace Evans and sophomore guard Erin Olson left the UW women's basketball team Wednesday. Evans played in 24 of 27 Badger games last year, while Olson played in 15.

Evans, who mostly came off the bench to play the point, averaged 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 12.3 minutes per game last year, but has decided to play elsewhere next year. If Evans chooses to stay at Wisconsin her athletic scholarship is still available. But, according to Evans, she will probably transfer to another school next year where she will have three years of eligibility remaining in collegiate basketball.

\Yes, I do [plan to transfer from UW]. I have a few visits lined up,"" Evans said.

Olson, a walk-on player, decided to leave in order to spend more time on her special education degree. Olson started in one game and averaged 0.6 points per game last year.

Junior guard Devin Harris could declare himself eligible for the NBA draft June 24, but not acquire an agent, sources told the Wisconsin State Journal Thursday.

If Harris does not acquire an agent, he could take himself out of the draft and come back to the Wisconsin Badgers for his senior season. If Harris acquires an agent, the junior would forego his senior season of eligibility at Wisconsin and make himself eligible for the draft. Harris has until May 10 to decide whether he will stay at UW-Madison or join the NBA.

Both men's basketball Head Coach Bo Ryan and Wisconsin Sports Information Brian Lucas were not available for contact Thursday.

The No. 3 Wisconsin lightweight squad will row in the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J., this weekend, coming off of a successful weekend rowing for the Coggeshall Cup.

The Badgers will face the top teams in the nation, Princeton and Radcliff, along with 50 other programs from across the nation.
