John Torphy, UW-Madison vice chancellor for administration, will retire next summer. A search committee has been formed to find his replacement.
Torphy has held his current title since 1993.
\John is known throughout the UW System and state government for his budget expertise, his incisive analytic skills and his understanding of the university's role in Wisconsin,"" UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley said in a statement.

A committee of faculty, academic and classified staff and representatives from UW System and the Wisconsin Department of Administration will determine finalists for the position.
Wiley said he hopes to hire Torphy's replacement well before his retirement.
