Effective next semester, the Wisconsin Union will extend its hours until midnight Sunday through Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The longer hours will be used to provide more late-night programming, according to Union Director Mark Guthier, who said the goal was to create a safe alternative to house parties and a meeting place for students of all ages.
The Wisconsin Union Directorate, the student programming board of the Union, requested the extension.

Summer hours for the Union will remain the same: 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
