Local youth reported binge drinking at a higher level than the average teen-ager, according to the results of a 2000 survey.
The study shows that 35 percent of Dane County high school students binge drank at least once a month. A little less than a third of teen-agers nationwide said they binge drank in a study released last week.
Girls must drink four consecutive alcoholic beverages to be defined as binge drinkers, while boys must consume five drinks.

The survey showed that approximately 48 percent of male seniors, 21 percent of male freshman and 24 percent of female freshman said they binge drank.
